Kathryn “Katie” Jean Heinze (NPC) 11/21/2001 ~ 1/22/2016

KatieHeinzeDear NNPDF Families and Friends,

It is with immense heartache that we notify our NPD family membership of the passing of Kathryn “Katie” Jean Heinze (November 21, 2011 – January 22, 2016), who courageously fought the NPC battle for the last 14 years.

Katie loved cheerleading, “Hello Kitty”, “Disney”, music and dancing.  Katie loved spending time with her family and friends and she enjoyed going to football games.  Katie and her family last joined us at the 2015 Family Conference in Chicago, Illinois.  Watching Katie, Faith and their new friend Emily was an extreme joy to everyone.  Her beautiful smile lit up the room!

Katie’s family notes that she is now playing in heaven with her brother, Tyler who also suffered from Niemann-Pick Disease Type C and who passed away in 2005 at the tender age of 8 years.

To Katie’s loving parents, Tim & Liz, and her beloved sisters, Serina & Faith, please know that your NNPDF family is here for you and holding you all in our hearts and thoughts.  We are truly heartbroken for you all but are comforted in knowing that the love and support you receive from those who loved Katie most will provide you the fortitude and strength that you will require in the coming days, weeks and months ahead without your precious Katie at your sides.  Please reach out to us if you need us ~ we will be here for you.

Katie’s family have generously indicated that memorials may be made to the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation in Katie’s name.
