Year-End Gift Ideas in Support of Those Affected by Niemann-Pick Disease
Each year, hundreds of families around the world depend on the NNPDF for medical information, research updates and emotional support as they struggle to care for a terminally-ill child or young adult.
We, in turn, depend on those with the compassion and the financial resources to make a difference in the lives of those who are suffering. We depend on the generosity of donors and the hard work of family fundraisers to drive forward the research that will ultimately result in treatments and a cure for NPD, and to provide support services in the meantime, to those who are affected by this disease.
As you consider your year-end tax planning, we at the NNPDF hope you will consider making good use of the income tax charitable deduction. Your year-end gift can significantly reduce your income taxes, while providing meaningful support for the work of the NNPDF.
Here are some of the best year-end gift ideas. We would be pleased to provide further information upon request.
Gifts of Cash
Mail Checks, Payable NNPDF, to:
PO Box 310
Fort Atkinson, WI 53538-0310
Or donate via Credit Card at:
Financial gifts can be made in honor or in memory of a friend, family member or colleague. They can also be made to mark a special occasion, such as an anniversary, birthday, retirement or graduation. The NNPDF will gladly send a card of acknowledgement to the individual or family that you wish to advise of this special gift sent in their honor.
Many employers will match charitable gifts, making your donation dollars worth even more. If your company or firm has a matching gift program, simply enclose the form along with your check. We will take care of the rest.
You can help defray the costs associated with the development and support of the programs provided by the NNPDF. A major gift can help to underwrite and sustain the organization’s overall financial health. You may choose to support a specific program, such as the Annual Family Support and Medical Conference, our Family Support Services Programs, the Niemann-Pick Disease Newsletter, or research ventures.
United Way Contributions
Employee-directed contributions can be made via United Way by “writing in” the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation, Inc. Tax Exempt ID #: 35-1844264. If your local chapter requests additional information about the foundation, please feel free to contact the NNPDF Central Office for additional assistance.
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
Contributions can also be made by Federal and State employees who wish to support the foundation by selecting the NNPDF #10121 located under National/International Independent Organization on your CFC pledge card. There are also a number of national and international businesses that offer their employees the opportunities to make charitable donations via automatic payroll processes within their corporations.
Donations of printing, advertising, promotional items, office supplies, etc., help the foundation keep overhead costs low and allow us to direct more funding toward family support services and research.
Gifts of Stock
A transfer of stock or other securities is almost always a more tax-wise contribution than cash.
Bequests made through a will, trust, life insurance or other estate planning can have a significant impact on NNPDF programs and services well into the future. Please contact the NNPDF Central Office for more information.
Your charitable gifts make an important difference in what we are able to accomplish. You can be assured your donation to the NNPDF will be greatly appreciated and faithfully stewarded to bring the greatest benefit to families dealing with NPD. Thank you for your generosity!

Does my small contribution really make a difference?
Research projects cost a lot of money. A pilot project can cost $25,000 or more and a large research project can cost $200,000 or more; however, each contribution we receive adds up to support the vital research needed to find treatments and a cure for Niemann-Pick Disease. And research is making progress. To learn more about research funded by the NNPDF, visit our Research pages.
Every contribution, large or small, makes a difference and drives research forward to win the fight against NPD. The NNPDF and families affected by NPD deeply appreciate any contribution you are able to make, and we work hard to be good stewards of your gifts.
I don’t have a lot of money to contribute to NNPDF. What else can I do?
How does NNPDF use my contribution? The NNPDF uses your contribution to support research to find treatments and a cure for NPD. We also use your support to help individuals and families affected by Niemann-Pick Disease. For more information about what we do, click here.
How much of my contribution goes toward programs, and how much goes toward administration and fundraising? Nearly 90% of your contribution goes toward NNPDF programs, while just over 10% goes toward administration and fundraising. This is far in excess of the percentage towards programs found in most organizations, which range from 50% to 75%. Please feel free to contact the NNPDF if you have other questions or would like further information.
